Little Stepper

I woke up at 4:30 Am this morning and thought it would be a good time to do some experimentation. The alarm is set for 5:30 and I wanted to see how long it would take me to fall back asleep. My alarm is a digital one that projects on to my ceiling, which in theory should be nice for reality checks. Even better is the fact that it projects upside-down, which encourages me to give my reality check a little extra scrutiny than I normally would.

I started out lying on my right side until sleep paralysis kicked in. I did some visualizing but not much else seem to be happening, so I switched to my left side. I very quickly entered a semi-dream state, although remaining conscious for the most part. I may have switched sides again at another point or two. At some point I could feel a floating sensation. I had a couple of dreams involving a phone conversation with a woman from a realtor's office. Phone conversations are one of my common dream signs, especially when there is something odd concerning the voice on the other end. I don't recall anything particularly unusual about the voice, but the situation was kind of odd. First of all, I was in the middle of explaining something, and I dropped the phone. I then went into an office, similar to my Dad's home office where my bedroom used to be when I was growing up. There may have even been a bed in the office. At first, I believe I used caller ID to try to call them woman back, but the phone just kept ringer. I then called the realtor's office and I talked to a guy buy I think I could hear her talking in the background. I finally was able to get back a hold of her, but my Boss, Diane, was acting like I was wasting my time and trying to get me to end the call. I felt the call was important.

At some point, the alarm went off, but I was pretty much stuck in dreamland at that point. I remember thinking, I wonder if Angie realizes how deep I am sleeping right now. The alarm going off did not seem a big concern to me, and did not wake me up. I seem to know that it was the 5:30 alarm, and that I didn't need to get up for that one.

As I drifted in and out of dreaming, I could hear a song very clear in my head - a country song, and very contemporary. The vocals sounded like a current artist out there but I couldn't specify which one. The lyrics seemed very meaningful to me- they seemed to be about my Dad. One of the main lyrics of the song was the phrase "Little Stepper" which seemed to be a reference to my Dad. Also for purposes of the dream, it seemed like this song was a tribute to him, but that he maybe had passed away recently. Another part of the song had a phrase something like this - "Hey Daddy walking down the street." Acoustic guitar featured prominently in the song as well. I have found that when I am hearing a song in my dream, and am conscious - I become fascinated and find myself trying to over-analyze the song so that I can remember it when I wake up. Often, this will usually end up in the song stopping. I also could hear my left ear popping, I believe I was lying on my left side at the time. I've noticed this often happens when I am drifting in and out of the dreamworld. I don't believe this is an actual popping, but a dream popping, but it is pretty much indistinguishable, I don't know how I could prove one way or the other.

Another interesting dream involved me sitting with three other people in chairs at various corners of the room. I'll assume this is my parents living room. Gerald King was there, and I believe Wendy. As I was talking to Gerald, I thought this was interesting and figured out that I was in a dream. He mentioned how warm it was in the room, and I could actually feel that it was both warm and cool at the same time. I felt that the warmness of the bed that my not dream body was sleeping in was interfering with the dream. I mentioned something about there being air conditioning in this room, and that it was also quite cool. It was a odd sensation to feel both the warmth and the coolness at the same time.

I was awake at 6:30.
